Purple Heart by Patricia McCormick IV

Matt has a reoccuring nightmare when he is groggy walking around in a haze with his rifle. He is walking around the soccer field where all the Iraqi kids play soccer and he sees the cat that they 'adopted' Itchy. He recognizes who Itchy is and he sees a Iraqi boy and he opens fire right into the Iraqi boys chest and kills him. He has this dream often. I predict that Matt will be sent back into combat very shortly and he will pull something like what he does in his dream and what his new friend Francis did.

I hope Matt gets well and he will be sent back out with his squad and be a notorious leader and get rewarded for it and noticed back home and become a hero, but that won't happen because there is never a happy ending in a army book.

Purple Heart by Patricia McCormick III

Matt's rehabilitation process is going well. He can walk but he drags his right leg, he tries to cover it but Meghan Finnerty the evaluation specialist notices. He meets in her office everyday to update his progress. He has short-term memory loss, he cannot tell facial expressions, or be able to comprehend sarcastic jokes or puns.  Matt meets another solider named Francis. Francis is in the hospital because he's considered loony. He killed his squad leader, on accident. Francis and his squad were driving down a Iraqi road when his Humvee was his by and RPG and the squad split, half fleeing to the left and half to the right. Francis saw a figure in the dark, lasers in and fires. After he walks up to identify the body he realizes he shot and killed his squad leader. Francis was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Matt checks up with Meghan, there are 2 MP's waiting in her room as he walks by, they notice his slight limp and Meghan calls him in. They tell him he has a meeting with Lieutenant Colonel Fuch's office, he is escorted there.

Purple Heart by Patricia McCormick II

After reading another few chapters in Purple Heart Matt is working with a blonde nurse that he finds very attractive, she uses flashcards of 'everyday' things according to her. Matt does not perform well in the test, He cannot identify what a flashlight is, a raincoat and a bus stop hut. The nurse gets very worried for Matt because shes afraid he's going to forget everything. She wants to send him to Germany where they send the most injured soliders, Matt hates this he wants to get well and head back out with his troops. He doesn't know anyone in Germany and wants to be around people he knows.

Matt starts to walk he takes 12 steps and is frightened by the loud noise of AK-47's going off outside the hospital. He thinks he's under attack but it's only the local children celebrating after their team won a game of soccer. Matt meets a injured solider names Francis, Francis tells Matt that his injury is (CFU) Completely F***** Up. He takes a lot of pain pills, He gives Matt a notebook and tells him to write down everything that happens because they'll (Sergeant and Staff) will want to know.

Purple Heart by Patricia McCormick

In the begining of Purple Heart the story starts off with the main character Matt Duffy (18) in the U.S. hospital in Iraq. Matt does not remember anything, has no strength to do anything and he's having cognitive problems. The doctor diagnoses him with TBI Traumatic Brain Injury. Matt soon finds out that the hospital he's in is a walled compund inside Baghdad where Saddam Hussein once lived. The hospital portion was a hospital for Saddam and his closest friends, Now it is occupied by the Central Provisional Authority. Matts friend Justin visits him in the hospital and starts to talk to him about what had happened and Matt dosn't remember anything. Justin informs him that him and his troops followed and Orange and Yellow taxi down an alley way and they men inside it stormed off into a building, the troops go out of their hummer to follow them and men armed with AK-47s started to open fire out of the windows. They started to retreat to the hummer and they were hit with an RPG Rocket-propelled grenade and mat was launched into the air.

So far I enjoy this book it had a slow start but now it's picking up and things are starting to make more sense. I predict that Matt will recover from his TBI and he will be sent back out on the front lines. He will become schizophrenic and meander into haji territory. Matt will become a POW and he will become insane and bomb himself and the haji's he's surrounding.

Rambling II

I have no clue what to "blog" about so, I made Chocolate Caramel Commotion Bars Link Here and I recieved really good feedback from my spanish 5 class and Sam Lalonde told me I should make more and sell them. Thinking about it. Not really, I don't like baking things at all. I had to do it for a spanish project. the worst experience in my life, ruined my clothes, didn't enjoy it at all. But they tasted great, so it paid off I guess.

This blog experience is working out well so far i'd rather type two paragraphs then write them out. I write messy and I just don't like to write as it is, and it also seems to go by faster when I type it iI can listen to some music and type away. The only downfall to this blog is the school computers are terrible and are really slow and take forever to load.

Sherlock Holmes

Mark Haddon had the intentions to potray christopher like his idol, Sherlock Holmes. They have a few characteristics alike, Characteristics that Holmes has mind you he's a detective that christopher has in his everyday life. Characteristics such as being able to walk into a room and find ever little thing that is missplaced. Like holmes does when he is looking in the cemetary and notices the tracks in the dirt.

Christopher also thinks like Homles, they both think logical, they don't get suckered into bogous stories. Either of them believe in god and magic. They both like math and science and take pride in their work. I would recommend the Sherlock Holmes movie to everyone and strongly encourage you to spend $7.50 to see the showing of the Sherlock Holmes II tomorrow and your local Cinema 7.

Rambling

I thought the last few 'chapters' of the novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime by Mark Haddon were flat out boring. It was so boring when christopher sat on the bench of the train station for 5 hours and went so in-depth to the sound of the train and like 50 trains passed and then he decides to get on one. Then toby runs away and he goes down on the train tracks to save him? It's a rat he was well past his time, he should have just let the thing go, He bit him.. should have proved to christopher that your not supposed to have a pet rat.

The end of the book was kind of a cliffhanger, Christophers mother finds a small apartment that christopher doesn't like. I predict that Mrs. Shears will move out of the neighborhood or she will pass away. Then christophers mother will move back in with his father and they will get back together. I think this because they got along well when she moved back in the first time, and the reason they got divorced was because christopher was causing too much stress, and now that christopher has matured he won't be a negative factor in their relationship.
